Director, Scientific Communications and Publications Medical Affairs (Remote position)

As a key member of the Medical Affairs organization, the Director, Scientific Communications and Publications, Medical Affairs provides strategic input, leadership, and management of scientific communication activities, with a primary focus on content development for Field Medical Teams and Scientific Publications. This position reports to the Executive Director, Medical Affairs and has a direct report. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Accountable/responsible for all aspects of scientific communications including publications, scientific platform/scientific statement development and field medical content development for GBTs SCD portfolio Oversees the development and execution of a comprehensive, globally aligned cross functional strategic publication plan for approved and pipeline products. This includes developing/refining of publication strategic objectives for the assigned molecule(s) aligned with the overall medical objectives, participation in data analysis efforts, editing and preparation of publications for submission, while ensuring adherence to policies and procedures established by GBT, journals, and ICMJE Responsible for the development of scientific content for field medical team, aligned with overall scientific narrative for each molecule and overall medical strategy Demonstrate understanding of the disease area, medical strategies and objectives necessary to provide strategic input to a broad range of stakeholders on matters related to publication planning & data dissemination/disclosure Implement effective and consistent strategies for engaging external expertise (e.g. Publication Steering Committee) to advise and shape publication plan strategy Manage vendors to ensure deliverables are on time, within budget, and of high quality prior to subsequent internal review Work collaboratively with internal functional partners on Publications and Scientific communications strategies as needed to enhance the value of GBT products Provide managerial oversight of direct report(s). Provide training and feedback, resolve personnel issues, and manage talent retention Other duties as assigned Proficient in the use of virtual meeting and collaboration tools
Qualifications:
PhD, PharmD or MD and a minimum 6
years of experience in Medical Affairs to include scientific communications and/or publications. Pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry experience or medical communications agency experience required 4
years of experience leading teams and/or managing people Expertise in terms of clinical trial design, interpretation of scientific data, and communication via clinical/regulatory or medical affairs channels Able to successfully communicate complex concepts and data to a variety of audiences Able to work independently, with strong leadership skills, and effectively manage teams and projects Strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to plan and design effective publication and scientific communication strategies Managerial experience required Experience working in highly matrix environment across a broad range of functional areas and effectively collaborating with the Medical Affairs, Health Outcomes, R&D, regulatory, legal and commercial teams Outstanding interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with exceptional time management skills are required for this highly visible global position High integrity, sense of urgency, an appetite to both individually contribute and to lead within and outside of Publications and communications functions Fit with GBT culture:

Salary Range:
$200K -- $250K
Minimum Qualification
Life SciencesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
