Principal Scientific Researcher, Translational Immunology at Roche in South San Francisco, CA

The successful candidate will become a member of an in-vivo biology team in Translational Immunology. The team is responsible for developing different in vivo models of inflammatory bowel disease, understanding the contribution of microbiota to immune modulation, and exploring host and microbiota interaction at the epithelial barrier.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the discovery and investigation of large and small molecule drug targets in animal models Perform exploratory disease-oriented research and make innovative intellectual contributions to advance pipeline programs as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team Independently design, execute, analyze and present studies to various forums within the department and across the wider Research organization.
Qualifications:
The successful applicants will have a PhD in immunology, microbiology, cell biology or related field, a minimum of 5 years mouse or other species hands on in vivo experience is a must. Expertise with handling, inoculations, and sampling in mouse is required, as well as the ability to design and carry out in vivo studies independently. Solid in vitro techniques, including flow cytometry, immunoassay, molecular, and/or cellular biology techniques are also desirable. Candidates must have a documented record of professional achievement in the form of impactful publications, and must be familiar with immunological principles and techniques. A strong background in host and microbiota interaction is highly desired. Excellent oral/written communication skills and creative problem-solving are required.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
